MHF Live: what is it and why are we doing it?
We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new music fundraising initiative, MHF Live.
MHF Live is a UK-first that encourages musicians and music fans to host their own events to Raise Awareness, Raise Money & Raise the Roof for mental health.
The initiative also draws upon our years of experience in the arts with the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival, which brings together hundreds of artists and activists each year to challenge preconceived ideas about mental health.
We recognise music as a powerful tool - not only can it lift moods, but it can also help to break down stigma, encourage conversation and promote positive mental health for all.
That's why we're calling on our supporters to host their own music events – big or small – in aid of the Mental Health Foundation. It doesn't matter if you've never hosted an event before, we're here to guide you and we've created a free event pack bursting with tips and ideas to get you started.
MHF Live events can incorporate any type of music and take place on any scale. It could be a band night at a local venue, a choir recital at school, a talent show at your workplace or a mixtape listening party at home with friends...the possibilities are endless!
All you need to take part is a love of music and a passion for mental health awareness.
MHF Live events will officially take place across the UK in the first two weeks of February – but don't worry if that doesn't work for you. You can hold your MHF live event at any time of the year and we'll be happy to support you!
By signing up to MHF Live, you'll be joining a UK-wide network of musicians and music fans across the UK working towards a world with good mental health for all. That includes chart-topping pop star Rita Ora plus bands like Enter Shikari, PAWS, The XCERTS, The Van Ts, Be Charlotte and many more.
