Arts and mental health in Wales

We are developing a platform for arts and mental health in Wales, while working with organisations as Learning Partners to explore how the arts can be beneficial to them and their impact on mental health.

Our flagship event in Wales is the Green Ribbon Arts Festival, (GRAF) which was first staged in 2020 and 2021 as an online event during the pandemic. The festival is due to return in Autumn 2022 with live, in-person events and is funded by the Arts Council of Wales and The Baring Foundation.

GRAF showcases examples of high-quality work in the arts and mental health field in Wales, while providing spaces for important conversations and networking. GRAF offers opportunities for artists to demonstrate what matters to them, and their take on mental health, along with promoting work from arts organisations that are innovative and engaging with diverse audiences.

GRAF shows how the arts can improve understanding of mental health and prevent and alleviate mental ill-health.

We are also developing work on men’s mental health in a large industrial setting in South Wales, and with a Further Education college, working with staff and students.
