It is perhaps not surprising that an area of health that has been so systematically stigmatised for so many decades has historically settled for a discriminatory lexicon. Generations of people have grown up in societies that found terms like “psycho”, “schizo”, “loonie” and “crazy” perfectly acceptable.
Concerns about body image and appearance, while often associated with younger people, are not exclusive to being young. Though our appearance and our relationship with our bodies change as we age, we do not stop valuing our bodies, and in later life, adults are still concerned about body image.

Some people referenced physical symptoms like tension headaches, spots, illness, being run down, fatigue, and others talked about mental symptoms like not being able to concentrate or speak properly, forgetfulness, depression, anxiety and tension.
