New resource offers help for people with mental health issues to move forward
A new resource to help people experiencing mental health issues to be make decisions about the support they want and need to achieve their goals has been published by the Mental Health Foundation Scotland.
‘It’s My Life,’ which has been produced in partnership with Ayr Action for Mental Health and Plus Perth, offers a useful and flexible tool to use in conversations with their support worker, to help identify what’s important to that individual, what they would like to achieve, and the steps needed to get there.
Chris White, Citizenship and Participation Officer said: "We know from speaking to people with mental health issues that it can often be hard to express what they hope to achieve through getting the support they need. We wanted to produce something that was very personal to people and helped them to make these important decisions.
“So it’s almost like a journal which helps people to think about their own outcomes and goals, rather than someone else’s targets.”

‘It’s my Life’ has been designed initially for use by people with mental health issues, but could be used in a variety of different settings e.g. homelessness or learning disabilities services.
