Keith Rae

Policy & Public Affairs Officer

Keith Rae joined the Mental Health Foundation in 2021 and is the Evidence and Impact team’s Policy & Public Affairs Officer. The role covers mental health policy both in Scotland and Northern Ireland. He was a parliamentary assistant to an MP prior to joining the Foundation. In this role, Keith worked cross-party in both health and Europe remits in the early stages of the Covid crisis and latter stages of the UK-EU Brexit negotiations.

Keith acquired an undergraduate qualification in Politics & Social Policy (MA) from the University of Edinburgh prior to completing a Health Services Management (MSc) postgraduate degree at the University of Glasgow. His postgraduate thesis is titled ‘the integration of social care services in Scotland and Sweden: A comparative analysis’.

During his undergraduate, Keith was enrolled as a civil service intern with the Scottish Government’s learning directorate. In this role, Keith played a prominent role in improving the Government’s regulations regarding those food and drinks products available in schools.

Keith has also worked as an outdoor trip leader for young people living with learning difficulties in Michigan, USA. In his spare time, Keith enjoys running, cycling and is a former winner of ITV’s daytime gameshow ‘Tipping Point’.
