Richard is a highly experienced consultant in the area of employability and skills and partnership and board development, with a growing focus on health and employment, including mental health.
Richard was a Founding Director of Rocket Science UK Ltd, a research consultancy which works with UK and Scottish Government Departments and agencies and with a wide range of local authorities and charities. Rocket Science focuses on strategy, programme and project development and evaluation in the areas of employment, skills, health, poverty, inequality and civic society.
Richard has worked with a wide range of public and third sector partnerships and boards helping them with their strategies and performance. Before becoming a consultant, Richard worked in planning and policy in Local Authorities in England and Scotland and he was Scottish Director of British Shipbuilders Enterprise Ltd, helping shipyard workers find fulfilling new work as the shipyards contracted.
Richard is the Vice Chair of Edinburgh’s Fruitmarket Gallery and a Trustee of the Cockburn Association – Edinburgh’s Civic Trust.
