Policy and Information Officer, Scotland
Chris is the Policy and Information Officer for the Mental Health Foundation in Scotland
Chris first became involved in the Foundation in 2002 as a lived experience researcher with the Strategies for Living Project, exploring the experience of people accessing welfare benefits advice. Through this Chris was able to transition back to work specialising as a mental health advice worker before joining the Foundation's Policy and Information team in 2011.
Chris is passionate about how lived experience can be used as a platform for recovery and empowerment, and how involvement and participation can improve mental health services and support.
Chris is part of an international partnership of academics and practitioners called Honest, Open and Proud which looks to reduce stigma through personal mental health disclosure. Chris previously led work on capacity building with persons with disabilities agencies in Malawi.
