Lizzie is CEO of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, the UK regulatory body for veterinary surgeons and veterinary nurses. In autumn 2014, Lizzie set up the Mind Matters Initiative (MMI), to make a difference to the mental health and wellbeing of members of the veterinary team. The project has developed a range of activities for the whole veterinary team, including training, research grants, symposia, culture change projects, student support and destigmatisation campaigns. In 2018, Lizzie set up Mind Matters International with the American Veterinary Medical Association to bring together global organisations with a common objective of supporting their veterinary communities. Lizzie is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and holds a degree in English from St John’s College, Oxford. She has served on the Communications and Fundraising Committee of the Mental Health Foundation since 2019, and joined its Board of Trustees in 2025. She is a Director of the Veterinary Policy Research Foundation and a Trustee of RCVS Knowledge.
