Huma Malik, Trustee

Huma currently works within the NHS support Involvement and engagement with service changes.

Huma has a background in working with children and young people. She previously worked for Barnardos supporting young people’s mental health through delivering Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) groups. In these sessions the attendees would create wellness tool boxes, look at triggers and how they could support these. Huma has completed her own WRAP as a teenager and worked in the area ever since.

She has been a part of the MHF young leaders. and is now a peer facilitator supporting these sessions.

Huma is a member of the People’s Board for her local CCG and also volunteers with Leaders Unlocked, supporting young leaders to help bring about changes within organisations such as the police, health services and within mental health. She has her own social enterprise MusicTalkz to support young people’s mental health through music workshop and lyric writing to support self-expression.

Huma was crowned Yorkshire’s Asian Young Achiever of the Year at the 2021 awards - which recognises the work of those aged 18-30 from South Asian heritage in the region - where she also scooped the public sector category win.
