Parc Prison Peer-led Self-Management Project Impact Report

Location: Wales

This self-management programme ran between 2013 to 2016 with courses on mental health for inmates of the UK prison environment for the first time at HM Prison Parc, Bridgend in South Wales.

Through a project that we ran from 2008 to 2011 (funded by Mental Health Matters), we have successfully proven in Wales the effectiveness of training in self-management for people who have had severe and enduring mental health problems.

We propose to adapt the thinking behind this project, learning from our experiences and the evaluation, and in consultation with the proposed beneficiaries, to design courses suitable for young offenders and older prisoners, using materials adapted from our original training.
