Aegon UK: modular, experience-based training

Aegon is an international provider of life insurance, pensions and asset management, with a major UK base in Edinburgh.

The Mental Health Foundation worked in partnership with Aegon UK’s HR and professional development teams to develop and pilot a half-day bespoke managing mental health at work training module for their talent development programme.  

We used realistic ‘user journey’ style case studies to provoke discussion and peer to peer sharing. The user journey case studies were developed using company policies and procedures and were informed by experiences seen by managers.

The scenarios explore distress, and relate mental health at work to the company mission and performance management structures.
The approach was very well received, and is now available for adaptation with other companies.
