Ben Plimpton

Group Facilitator, Standing Together Project

Ben joined the Mental Health Foundation in June 2015 as a facilitator on the Standing Together Project, which aims to address poor mental health and loneliness among residents of retirement and extra care housing schemes.

Originally from the United States, Ben started his working life in the UK as Caseworker to Paul Burstow MP. He has a background in mental health peer support, having previously worked on the Big Lottery-funded Virtual Support Project at the LGBT charity PACE.

Ben holds a master's in human rights from the London School of Economics, and master's in psychology from the University of Hertfordshire. He is currently pursuing a PhD (part-time), researching the nature and frequency of intrusive memories in non-clinical populations.

Ben looks after his wellbeing by walking his dog Daphne around the parks of south east London.
