Dr Iris Elliott
Head of Policy and Research
Iris leads the Foundation's policy and research work across the UK and with international partners. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of the Arts in recognition of her "exceptional and longstanding commitment to improving public mental health in the UK and Ireland".
Her policy and research interests include realising human rights and equity in everyday life, and creating trauma-informed places (communities and services).
Iris previously worked in a variety of roles related to mental health. Originally an adult mental health social worker, Iris was involved in the innovation of community-based mental health services in England and Ireland, and co-authored Unique Insight, the first service user consultation report in Ireland. She worked as a health promotion specialist (schools and mental health) and as a national and all-Ireland policy adviser in mental health, disability and public health organisations.
Iris holds a PhD in sociology, MA in public culture studies and MSc in health promotion.
