Ralph Coates

Head of Partnerships

Ralph manages several areas of fundraising and the staff teams responsible for each. These areas include restricted grants from trusts, the Lottery for project work, legacies, events and community, and corporate fundraising, all of which bring in a large proportion of the Foundation’s annual income.

With 25 years’ experience in charity fundraising, Ralph has worked in events and community at LEPRA, major grants at The Children’s Society where he tripled the income from grants in just 4 years enabling them to became the UK charity with the most lottery grants, and then finally Ralph spent 11 years at MIND working in events fundraising, mental health promotion and supporting local Mind Associations. Ralph has a long-term commitment to the voluntary sector, fundraising and mental health.

In 1997, Ralph published “Bird and the Word”, a mental health education pack for secondary schools which is still in print today.

When he’s not at work, Ralph spends time with his wife and children, participates in various sports via the Bank of England Sports Club and visits France where he enjoys all things French. His other interests include skiing, birds and the natural environment.
