Marie Williams

Creating Connections Project Support

Marie has been part of our Creating Connections project since 2014 - initially as a volunteer and now as a Mental Health Foundation employee.

On the project, Marie has supported a number of single parents, using her own experience as a single parent along with her professional expertise, just as she was supported herself. The fact that she has been in the same position as many of the parents she supports gives Marie particularly great satisfaction in seeing single parents' journeys and being part of their development.

Marie won the 2016 WCVA Volunteer of the Year Award and will soon be meeting the Queen. She has both good and bad experience of mental health herself and to look after her mental health, Marie enjoys baking mini Victoria sponges and cross stitching the faces of people close to her.
