Five steps to great fundraising

Marathon runners

Fundraising can be really simple and fun, it just takes some preparation! Once you have secured your place, we will send you out a fundraising pack with lots of fundraising ideas and tips. Our Events Team will also be in touch regularly to help keep you on track!

Here are our five top tips to get you started.

Step 1 - set up an online sponsorship page

Email the link to everyone you know and remember to link it to your Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Step 2 - break down your fundraising target

Break down your fundraising target in to manageable chunks, and make a plan! For example if you had a target of £600, you could break down your fundraising like this:

  • £50 – Bake sale at work
  • £50 – Collection boxes at local shops/workplaces
  • £100 – Company matched donation
  • £150 – Family/friends/work colleagues sponsorship
  • £250 – Quiz Night

Step 3 - remember to get your sponsors to gift aid

Every £1 people sponsor you, we can claim an extra 25p back from the Government. All they need to do is ask your friends, family and colleagues to tick the Gift Aid box if they are UK Tax payer and their gift will be worth 25% more - at no extra cost to them!

Step 4 - find out if your company operates a matched giving scheme

A matched giving scheme is where employees are eligible to claim for a donation from their company to go towards their fundraising. Some companies match a certain percentage of the amount you have raised and others match everything!

Step 5 - make use of our resources!

We have a selection of fundraising materials you can order to help with your fundraising. These include posters, balloons, leaflets etc. To order these contact our Events Team at or call 0207 803 1123.
