As an advisor

Help to advise the Director of England and Wales for Research, Programmes and Policy, with strategic decisions and important revisions of documents.

Strategic decisions

Our strategic decisions are made by the Senior Management Team and the Board of Trustees. To ensure these decisions are relevant to everybody’s mental health, we seek advice from people with lived experience.

Important revisions of documents

Papers written by researchers can sometimes come across as too academic. We ask people with lived experience to read documents and comment on how they can be made more accessible to everyone.

How would it work?

When we need your advice we will email you. All communication will be made through email. It may involve editing documents. You will need to have Word and be familiar with using track changes. It may involve completing a questionnaire online. All comments you make will be kept anonymous. You would be paid each time you contribute to our work.

Your data will be stored on a password-protected spreadsheet on the Mental Health Foundation system. All data will remain confidential and securely stored, in compliance with the 2018 General Data Protection Regulation. This means you have the right to access your personal data and the right to have your data removed from the system at any time.

How do I get involved?

You have to be over sixteen years of age, live in England or Wales and have personal insight or personal experience of mental health and/or related issues, such as housing, addictions, debt.
