Our work on recovery and service user involvement

We aim to use a recovery approach in all our projects. That means supporting people with mental health problems to live meaningful lives, rather than focusing on their symptoms.

We also work to support people who use mental health services and their carers to have their say on the way that services are run.

The level of user involvement in mental health services across the UK varies. Users may be involved in areas such as planning and delivering services, or they may be involved in all or none of these activities. Involvement tends to be strongest at local level, but even locally many groups of service users do not get their voice heard. As a result, services do not always meet the needs of these marginalised groups.

This section describes our projects which have a particular focus on recovery, self-management or service user involvement.
