Response to the Cavendish review of training and support of healthcare and care assistants

Cavendish review - a woman being visited by a care worker at home.

The Cavendish Review was published in July 2013.

It was an independent review into healthcare assistants and support workers in the NHS and social care settings, in response to which we published this response.

The review proposes that training of healthcare assistants working in hospitals and social care support workers who are employed in care homes and private homes should be standardises. All such workers should be required to attain a 'certificate of fundamental care' before they can care for people unsupervised.

The Review is available to download for free, as is our response.
