Mental Health Awareness Week 2006
In 2006, we lauched a report focusing on the powerful links between alcohol and mental health.
We wanted individuals to think about why they drink and how alcohol affects their emotional and mental well-being. We called on Government to change alcohol and mental health policy and practice.
We produced the Cheers? Report, which examined evidence for links between alcohol and mental health problems. Research outlined in the report showed that many people in the UK drink alcohol to cope with emotions or situations that they would otherwise find difficult to manage.
- We published an easily digestible Key Facts, Findings and Recommendations document from the Cheers? Report
- We produced a public awareness-raising poster relating to alcohol and mental health
- Various people shared their personal stories with us and these were published on our website
