We are proud to support the work of the ‘Lights! Camera! ACTION!’ campaign in Wales.

Lights! Camera! ACTION! is led by service users and carers in Wales, focusing on ensuring the effective delivery of new mental health legislation and policy.

The campaign aims to ensure that the significant improvements laid out in recent changes to Welsh legislation, including the ‘Together for Mental Health’ strategy for mental health and wellbeing in Wales, and the Mental Health (Wales)Measure (2010) are realised in the experiences of service users.

The Lights! Camera! ACTION! mobile studio will appear at 22 local county events over Summer 2013, encouraging service users to talk about the changes they want to see in mental health services. Watch this video introducing the campaign if you'd like to learn more.

The campaign is calling for:

  • high-quality Care and Treatment Plans for everyone receiving secondary mental health services
  • full choice and control for service users on the content of Care and Treatment Plans
  • prompt delivery of quality mental health services in response to those Plans and to the needs of people with a serious mental illness using primary care services
  • further reform of services which increase service user and carer control over the choice and commissioning of services
  • a longer-term move towards full equality in Welsh society for service users and carers including equal access to health and social care, housing, income, education and employment.

The Mental Health Foundation is supporting Lights! Camera! ACTION! campaign along with Hafal and Bipolar UK.
