Toby Williamson, Head of Development and Later Life at the Mental Health Foundation responds to the CQC Deprivation of Liberties Safeguards Annual Report 2010/11:

“The CQC findings support the issues we highlighted in our BIDS report in January after a two year project in partnership with the Norah Fry Research Centre at the University of Bristol and the Centre for Applied Social Research at the University of Bradford. We have called for gaps in current practice, such as the possible under use of DOLS to be highlighted in the Code of Practice and for all providers of health and social care services to be regularly audited by the CQC for compliance with MCA and DOLS. “

“As a result, we have brought together leading experts in mental capacity and developed specialist sessions for organisations who need to raise greater awareness and understanding of the Mental Capacity Act. For more information about our consultancy services please click here
