Sarah Kingston, Community and Events Manager at the Mental Health Foundation:
"We've recently launched Tea & Talk 2011, our annual national fundraising campaign to mark World Mental Health Day on 10 October. We are calling for people across the country to have a natter, raise money and change lives. Tea & Talks have raised over £50,000 over the past two years and we hope to make this year the biggest one yet!
Holding a Tea & Talk is simple. All you have to do is get family, friends, or colleagues together over a cuppa and ask them to make a donation to the Mental Health Foundation. You can hold your Tea & Talk anywhere! For example, last year we had people Tea and Talking up mountains, live on the radio and holding virtual Tea & Talks online.
Taking part in Tea & Talk is really good for your own mental health and wellbeing too. Everyone knows how beneficial having a chat over a cuppa can be. And now you can raise money to help change lives at the same time!
We will be keeping people update with the campaign on Facebook and Twitter and also on our Tea & Talk pages so do watch this space! If you know anyone who may like to take part, please spread the word!
We really need your support to make this year’s campaign the biggest yet and raise vital money to help the suffering caused by mental illness."
