Run like the wind-y city!

4 August 2008

Chicago is famous for its blustery weather, so participants in the city’s marathon will be hoping for a favourable tail-wind this October. The Mental Health Foundation is calling on supporters to make the trip to Illinois and run 26 miles beneath some of the world’s tallest skyscrapers.

The marathon course is famously speedy and a favourite amongst runners who like flat terrain. With a maximum elevation of just 24-feet above sea level the lack of hills make for perfect running conditions.

Jayne Cromwell, Head of Supporter Fundraising at the charity, said: “We’re really pleased to be able to offer runners in the UK the opportunity to take part in a challenge event in Chicago. It’s a great thing to do for those who have already run marathons in the UK.”

The charity requires that participants pay a registration fee of £50 and raise a minimum fee of £1,450 in sponsorship money.

To be one of the 45,000 runners taking part in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon on its 30th anniversary on Sunday 12 October email events@mhf.org.uk or find out more about the Chicago Marathon.
