Response to Disability Rights Commission Report "Equal Treatment: Closing the Gap - One year on"

News Release, 25 September 2007

In response to the “Equal Treatment: Closing the Gap - One Year On” report released today by the Disability Rights Commission, Moira Fraser, Head of Policy at the Mental Health Foundation said:

“To read this report is very frustrating because the physical healthcare needs of people with mental health problems continue to be ignored. Simple steps could make such a significant difference if only this were made a priority. Sadly, the needs of people with mental health problems are not viewed as important. It should not be acceptable that people who live with a mental illness get unequal access to healthcare services.”
