News Release, Friday 27 October 2006
On Monday 30 October, G4 singer, Ben Thapa, will be lining up alongside 10,000 other runners to tackle the Dublin Marathon. The star is raising money for the Mental Health Foundation, a charity that helps people to survive, recover from and prevent mental health problems.
Ben, who shot to fame after G4 reached the final of the TV show, X-Factor, in 2004, said:
“For as long as I can remember, mental illness has been prevalent within my family. The chance to run for the Mental Health Foundation gives me the opportunity to give something back to the people I care about. It is a charity that lies close to my heart.”
Ben will be aiming to beat his personal best time of 4 hours and 33 minutes, which he set in the Flora London Marathon earlier this year.
According to research by the charity, physical exercise is one of the best ways to look after and improve your mental health. For general advice on how to keep well and to learn more about mental health problems such as depression and anxiety visit www.mentalhealth.org.uk
