Title Petition to encourage better service provision for men with eating disorders
Full Story
Men Get Eating Disorders Too* is calling for people to sign their petition on the Number 10 website to encourage better service provision for men affected by eating disorders.

Studies suggest that between 10 and 25 per cent of people with eating disorders are male. However, it is widely speculated that these figures could be much higher as many men do not feel they are able to get help for their eating disorder. We believe that part of the reason for this is due to the lack of awareness of eating disorders in men from doctors and other health practitioners. Numerous male sufferers have reported getting a diagnosis for their eating disorder a struggle and their symptoms dismissed probably because eating disorders are commonly seen as female problems.

The petition reads as follows: 'We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to ensure men with eating disorders are given the same opportunities for treatment and care as female sufferers and are by no means discriminated against by their doctor / other health practitioner because they are male.'
To sign the petition please go to
http://petitions.number10.gov.uk/men-eds

By signing you will be helping hundreds, if not thousands of men get better access to support and have their needs met. We need as many signatures as possible if the government/policy makers/commissioners are to take this issue seriously.
