“Mental health research is seriously under-funded. That’s why I’ve made a legacy to the Mental Health Foundation”
Stephen Schick
My name is Lesley and I think the Mental Health Foundation is an amazing charity. Of course, it’s hard for me not to be proud of the work of the Mental Health Foundation when I work here every day! My colleagues are passionate about the cause and experts in their field. The work is life-changing. Every gift we receive is spent wisely. Best of all, I know millions of people are benefiting from our work and I know this is only down to people like you.
Our work cannot, and will not, stop until we realize our vision of a world where the suffering caused by mental health problems is finally ended. So, after you have provided for your loved ones, I hope you, like me, will add a gift in your Will to the Mental Health Foundation. We really do depend on these very special gifts so we can continue our work for generations to come.
What are the options
Every kind of gift is hugely appreciated. You don’t need to leave a large sum – a gift in your Will no matter how small can make a big impact on our work. Many people choose to leave a residuary gift (a share of an estate) as it usually maintains or increases value over time, but every single gift is welcomed. You have our assurance that your gift will be administered in a professional and sensitive manner. It is important to remember that every gift from a Will that we receive is free from inheritance tax.
How to word your Will
It's really straightforward to include a gift to Mental Health Foundation in your will. All you have to do is give your solicitor our registered address and charity numbers:
Mental Health Foundation
Colechurch House
1 London Bridge Walk
London, SE1 2SX
Registered charity no 801130 (England and Wales) and SC039714 (Scotland).
Amending an existing Will?
Have you already made a Will? You can add Mental Health Foundation into your Will by completing a codicil. A codicil is a document which changes or additions are made to an existing Will and must be read in conjunction with it. We always recommend you contact a solicitor if you wish to draw up a codicil.
How to get in touch
If you have any questions on leaving a gift in your will to Mental Health Foundation or would like to talk about our work do contact me, Lesley Braden, Legacy Marketing Executive on 020 7803 1182 or email lbraden@mhf.org.uk. If I'm not around then my colleague, Stella, will help you. We're only a small team, but we're here all day Monday to Friday. Outside of these hours, please leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as we can. Whatever you decide, thank you so much for taking the time to consider adding the Mental Health Foundation to your Will.
Your last wishes
As you consider how best to care for the needs of your family and those you care about you may also wish to consider expressing your last wishes. As a valued supporter of Mental Health Foundation you understand how all gifts can make a difference. Donations in memory or in lieu of flowers can be a wonderful way for family and friends to celebrate and honour your life. If you would like to discuss this please do get in touch with me.
