Celia’s Story: Tea & Talk can raise awareness and prevent further tragedies from happening
Celia took part in Tea & Talk 2009, to help increase the awareness of the Mental Health Foundation’s work and also raise money in memory of her beloved sister Helena.
"October 2009 was an important month for my family. It marked my parents’ Golden Anniversary and was also the 10th anniversary since the tragic death of my sister Helena, who suffered from depression which eventually led her to commit suicide. When we heard about Tea & Talk we thought it sounded like the perfect event for us to organise, as we are known for drinking many cups of tea around the kitchen table!
We started a memorial fund for my sister and invited friends and family to get together for a Tea & Talk event in Helena's memory. The room was buzzing with shared memories, photographs and laughter and we all drank gallons of tea! So far we have raised £650. The money raised at Tea & Talk events will help the Foundation continue its vital work which helps to change lives and can prevent futher tragedies taking place."
