The Mental Health Foundation is one of 19 charities that have been chosen to work in partnership with Girlguiding UK as part of its Changing the world project.

The project aims to involve its 500,000 Girlguiding UK members and is part of the organisation's centenary celebrations.

The Mental Health Foundation has designed the
Friendship Challenge especially for Changing the world.

For girls and young women, healthy friendships help to keep them mentally well and boost their self-esteem. But not all friendships are good for a girl’s emotional well-being, and research shows that some types of bullying are more common among girls than boys.

The Mental Health Foundation has designed the Friendship Challenge to encourage members of Girlguiding UK to learn how to develop and sustain healthy friendships and reach out to others in their local community.

Members of Girlguiding UK who choose to take part in the Friendship Challenge will help to raise awareness about the importance of good friendship and will be encouraged to learn how to develop and sustain healthy friendships.

Any money they raise will go towards ground-breaking research to find out why some types of bullying are more common among girls than boys. If we can understand why, then we can take steps to intervene.
