As an independent charity, our campaigns aim to:
push mental health up the political and social agenda
raise awareness of mental health issues in the media
work to influence civil servants and politicians at national level
We run our own campaigns, including:
Mental Health Action Week - our annual diary event to campaign on an issue that is related to the mental health of the general population
2007: Friendships and mental health
2006: Alcohol and mental health
2005: Exercise and depression
Previous years
World Mental Health Day - an international annual activity which we use to campaign for better mental health
2007: Global issues
2006: Making a meal of it
2005: Look after your mental health
Food and Mental Health - a campaign to change behaviour to increase the use of diet in the care, treatment and promotion of mental health
We also campaign with other charities to give ourselves a bigger voice, including:
Mental Health Alliance - a coalition of more than 70 organisations campaigning for a better Mental Health Bill
Making Decisions Alliance - a consortium of nearly 40 organisations campaigning for new legislation on mental capacity for England and Wales
Self Harm Inquiry - a campaign to develop better and more appropriate responses to young people who self-harm
We Need to Talk - a campaign consisting of 5 leading mental health organisations calling for an increased investment in and wider access to psychological therapies on the NHS.
We are a charity so we rely on donations to enable us to keep campaigning for everyone's mental health
