Kay Laurie, Trustee
Kay Laurie is currently the Deputy Director of Patient Experience for Barnet and Chase Farm Hospital NHS Trust.
Kay has worked in the NHS for 20 years as a patients' advocate and is currently Deputy Director of Patient Experience for Barnet and Chase Farm Hospital NHS Trust in North London. Her role enables her to focus on aspects of care that promote dignity and respect for patients at times when they may be feeling vulnerable due to ill health. She is interested in health and mental health policy.
Kay has always been interested in mental health issues and has been involved with mental health services as a Carer. She is keen to bring her perspective on the needs of Carers to the Mental Health Foundation through her role as a Trustee.
In 1992, Kay started Nakayoshi Kai: The Japanese Friendship Group, a network for women and families. The group promotes mental wellbeing for families coping with the challenges of pregnancy, childbirth and early years in a cross-cultural environment. The group has previously collaborated with The Samaritans and has been involved in mental health research in both the UK and Japan.
