Isabella Goldie, Head of Mental Health Programmes, Scotland

Isabella Goldie joined the Mental Health Foundation in 2004 as Head of Mental Health Programmes in Scotland.

Within her role, Isabella has developed a number of research and service improvement projects and has worked extensively on Scottish mental health policy. Much of this work has focused on later life, equalities, inequality and the arts.

She supported the development of VOX, the Scottish mental health service user organisation, and continues to support work ensuring that people with experience of mental health problems have a voice in mental health and public policy and service development, and to support the development of service user centred research.

Isabella has worked with colleagues in the Foundation to support the development of the Scottish Mental Health Arts and Film Festival (SMHAFF) and is Chair of the event.

Prior to her appointment, Isabella worked at Glasgow Association for Mental Health (GAMH) in a range of posts including six years as Scotia Clubhouse Director and latterly as an Operations Manager. During this period, she sat on the faculty board for the Information Centre for Clubhouse Development, a role that involved supporting and accrediting Clubhouses around the world.

In her earlier career, Isabella worked as a registered nurse for nine years in a range of settings including acute admission and forensic services. She then went on to hold a number of community posts including later life and adult day services and latterly in the Southern General Psychotherapy Unit.

Isabella holds an MSc in Public Health and trained/worked as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) early in her career.
